Frequently Asked Questions at PetCentre Animal Hospital

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team at PetCentre Animal Hospital is always happy to guide you in making the best decisions for your pet’s health and happiness.

Do I need an appointment to bring my pet to PetCentre?

Yes. To ensure each pet receives the time and attention they deserve, we see patients by appointment. You can book by phone, email, or directly through our online portal via PetDesk.

Do you offer payment plans?

Payment is required at the time of service. However, we do partner with CareCredit to help you manage veterinary costs through third-party financing.

What is pre-anesthetic blood screening?

This blood panel checks your pet’s organ function, clotting ability, and blood cell counts to ensure a safe surgical experience. Even young, healthy pets can have hidden issues that are best identified before anesthesia. This testing allows us to tailor anesthesia and recovery plans for optimal safety.

What are your boarding facilities like?

Our dog boarding kennels are indoors, and dogs enjoy three supervised walks per day. Cats are housed in a separate, quiet area away from dogs. We provide blankets and food, but you’re welcome to bring your pet’s favorites from home.

What services do you offer during surgery visits?

If your pet is already scheduled for a procedure, we can also perform additional services such as dental cleanings, ear treatments, microchipping, or anal gland expression while they’re under anesthesia. Let us know in advance if you’d like to authorize extra care.

How do I prepare my pet for surgery?

You’ll need to withhold food for 8–10 hours before surgery. Water is allowed until the morning of the procedure. We’ll review your pet’s surgical plan, go over optional services like pre-anesthetic testing, and answer any questions when you drop them off.

Where can I find trusted pet care information?

We recommend visiting our Resources page in our Client Corner, where you’ll find reliable educational links, pet care videos, poison prevention tips, and our VIN library—a veterinarian-curated database of pet health topics.

Should I let my pet have one litter before spaying or neutering?

No. Letting your pet have a litter offers no health benefits and can contribute to pet overpopulation. Spaying and neutering help reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections, prevent marking and roaming behaviors, and improve long-term health.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept a variety of convenient payment options:

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Mastercard, Visa, Discover
  • CareCredit
At what age should my pet be spayed or neutered?

Most pets can be safely spayed or neutered around 6 months of age, depending on breed and health status. We perform a thorough pre-surgical exam and recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork to ensure your pet is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia.

How long do sutures stay in after pet surgery?

Most external sutures are removed 10–14 days after surgery. In many cases, we use internal absorbable sutures that dissolve on their own. We’ll advise you on aftercare, activity restrictions, and any recheck appointments at discharge.

Does PetCentre offer pet boarding?

Yes! We offer dog boarding, cat boarding, and small animal boarding for established clients. Small pets like birds or hamsters are welcome, but owners must bring their own cages and food.

Do you offer daycare for dogs?

Yes! Our doggy playcare program provides safe, structured enrichment for social dogs. With trained staff, indoor-outdoor access, and flexible drop-off hours, it’s ideal for busy pet parents.

Do you offer urgent or emergency care?

Yes. PetCentre offers urgent and emergency veterinary care without emergency fees. We’re an ideal alternative to local emergency hospitals, many of which have long wait times. If your pet needs same-day care, call us as early as possible to be accommodated.

What should I bring for a boarding or playcare stay?

Please bring any prescription medications, special diets, or personal items that will help your pet feel more at home. We provide bedding, bowls, and high-quality food unless you request otherwise.
